An exceptional, and rare group of protest posters produced by students working out of a commune at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. In the wake of the shootings at Kent State, American students took to the streets in protest, using silk-screened posters in the same, effective manner as protesting French students had in 1968. By some accounts as many as a quarter of a million students were on strike in Boston in May, 1970. At least one exhibition has been held documenting similar posters from Berkeley during the same period (see Up Against the Wall, exhibition at the Berkeley Historical Society, 2009), but little or no pictorial reference to the posters from Boston has been amassed.
an incredibly rare political and graphic archive.
